The depth in the Chiefs' forward pack has never been the rugby side's strength, but 2010 looks like a different story.

There's six All Blacks sprinkled among the forwards and that's a positive and a negative for two new Chiefs locks preparing for the next Super 14.

Romana Graham and Culum Retallick had a wealth of knowledge and experience around them when the Chiefs re-grouped at the start of this month, but it may make it tougher to get into the starting line-up.

Both were in the wider training group last year, but having made the step up have two large roadblocks likely to stop them starting this season.

Craig Clarke and All Black Kevin O'Neill are more than likely to be coach Ian Foster's starting jumpers, so Retallick, 25, and Graham, 23, know they have to work extra hard to just to get a sniff.

"I just want to be in the best shape I can and work hard to put myself in a position where I'm ready to get some game time," Retallick said.
