Chiefs at the Beach

16th December 2009 12:37PM

The 2010 Chiefs squad will be sweating it out at the beach tomorrow (Thursday 17 December) as part of their pre-season fitness training.

The Chiefs head over to Mount Maunganui early tomorrow morning for a day filled with gym work, running around and about the Mount, then finishing their day with some surf lifesaving activities at the Mount Surf Club.

The players have been working hard for the past week since they came together as a group for the first time.  Chiefs head trainer Phil Healey says the aim at this time of the year is to increase and improve the players' general fitness levels.

Pre-Christmas Chiefs training often does not involve a lot of rugby specific components,  but mainly focuses on base fitness.  Come January, the players will be getting into more traditional rugby training.
