by Evan Pegden (Waikato Times) - Former Chiefs and All Black five-eighth David Hill has come to the rescue of the injury-hit Western Force, but it will probably be too late to play against his old team in Perth on Friday night.

Hill, 31, played for both the Chiefs and Waikato until 2006, leaving after winning the Air New Zealand Cup final with Waikato to join English club Bristol.

He has more recently played for Japanese club Toshiba and will return there after completing the Super 14 season with John Mitchell's Force.

Hill will replace injured Springbok first-five Andre Pretorius, whose season ended before it started when he tore his hamstring from the bone.
