Chiefs loose forward, Scott Waldrom has jumped on board as an ambassador for FebFast 2012.

Waldrom is urging people to get in behind the fundraising event which challenges New Zealanders to give up drinking alcohol for the month of February.

The 2011 ITM Cup Player of the Year finalist decided to join the challenge because he felt it was important “To break the stereotype that rugby players are boozers and to set a good example for young people”.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie is highly supportive of Waldrom, saying “It is great that Scott is taking part in this fundraiser because alcohol has a very limited place when you are a professional athlete - it affects performance and recovery”.

Waldrom who has played for the New Zealand Maori and selected for the All Blacks in 2008 is current fifth on the leader board for sponsorship. For more information, to join the challenge or to support Scott by making a donation visit www.febfast.org.nz.  Scott is keen to win the challenge for raising the most money so any help no matter small would be gratefully appreciated.

The money raised during FebFast will go to four different charity group CareNZ, ADHD Foundation, Evolve and Rainbow Youth.
