Chiefs v Crusaders this Friday 7.35pm Waikato Stadium
Co Captain’s comments – Craig Clarke
Our match against the Crusaders will be another big encounter. We know it will require a huge defensive effort and we will need to put on a complete performance which we have been working towards all season. We are expecting a good turn out from our supporters and know they will be critical in helping us to earn some extra points.
For our match on Friday we will be wearing one-off specially designed jerseys to raise awareness of Waikids – the Waikato District Health Board’s Child and Youth Services.
During the week some of us went up to the Waikato Hospital. It was great to be able to put a smile on the kids faces and was a very humbling experience. It is an impressive organisation with hard working staff and we are proud to be associated with them by helping to lift their profile so they can continue their good work.
Make sure you get to the game early and get behind us as we take on our biggest challenge this year.
See you at the game.
Cheers
Craig Clarke
What Dave Rennie thought of the Hurricanes game
Chiefs coach Dave Rennie said “It was a great defensive effort and a big step up from recent weeks. I felt we got a lot of go forward and put them under pressure.
“When they had the ball we were able to stop them in their tracks. We didn’t have a lot of possession in the second half but we created a lot of opportunities in the first half. We were really happy with the intensity with and without the ball.”
Aaron Cruden was voted the Chiefs Facebook Player of The Day and No 8 Matt Vant Leven was the people’s choice Player of the Day on Twitter.
This weeks Match Day
The Chiefs match against the Crusaders is going to be an epic battle this Friday night at 7.35pm at Waikato Stadium in our last match before the International window.
To raise awareness of Waikids, the Chiefs will be wearing a one-off playing kit branded with Waikids. Waikids is the combination of Waikato DHB’s child and youth health services under the one umbrella. They are dedicated to maintaining wellness and preventing sickness from the day a child is born until the day they turn 18.
Some of the limited edition jerseys will be sold and auctioned off through a variety of channels. To reward fans attending the match, four jerseys will be sold off at the game from the merchandise stand on each side of the stadium in a first in first served basis for $300 each. Three will be auctioned off in the Chiefs hospitality lounges, one will be sold on trade me and one will be donated to Waikids.
The programme is free for all season members so make sure you grab one at the game to read about:
