Chiefs acknowledge the passing of Paul Galletta
Kua hinga te tōtara i te wao nui a Tāne.
A tōtara has fallen in the forest of Tāne.
With great sadness, we acknowledge the passing of father, husband, grandfather, son, colleague, and friend Paul “Shaver” Galletta.
Shaver lived his life in the service of others. He was selfless, caring, kind and generous with his time to help those around him. He will be sorely missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known him.
Shaver has been a part of the Chiefs whānau since 2010, assisting the club with anything and everything, above and beyond his official role as Logistics Manager. As a central figure of the club who has cared for its people for many years, his loss will be felt for a very long time.
A celebration of his life will happen on Wednesday 27 November at 11am at FMG Stadium Waikato. Gates open 10.30am.
This will be followed by the burial at Leamington Cemetery. The whānau invites whoever would like to attend to please feel welcome. The after-match will be held at Hautapu Rugby Club following the service.
For those who cannot attend in person, a livestream will be set up and a link will be posted in this event: https://www.facebook.com/share/18AWfh5Bwr/
The family will also welcome visitors today, Monday 25 November, and tomorrow for those who wish to give their condolences or spend some final time with Shaver. Please respect the family's wishes and only visit during the below windows.
