Lienert-Brown is a resourceful midfielder who made a name for himself at 1st XV level for Christchurch Boys High School which in turn had him selected for 2014 & 2015 New Zealand Under 20 side.

Lienert-Brown debuted for the Gallagher Chiefs in 2014 and since his debut has established himself as strong member of the Gallagher Chiefs with his quick line speed and impressive distribution skills.

He was then called into the All Blacks squad for the 2016 Rugby Championship and made his debut against Australia.

Lienert-Brown was a part of the 2019 All Blacks Rugby World Cup squad who finished the tournament 3rd in Japan. He has made himself indispensable and a constant starter for the Gallagher Chiefs through into 2021. Lienert-Brown has remained as a valuable member of the All Blacks Squad, notching up 50 caps in the Black jersey in 2021.

In 2022 he joined the All Blacks again for the Northern Tour.

In 2023 Lienert-Brown battled an ankle injury sustained in round one of DHL Super Rugby Pacific against the Crusaders but returned to play in the second half of the season. He later was named in the All Blacks squad for the Lipovitan-D Rugby Championship.
