All Black Sevens and Moana Pasifika’s Etene Nanai-Seturo commits to Gallagher Chiefs

Gallagher Chiefs and Counties Manukau outside back Etene Nanai-Seturo will once again pull on the Gallagher Chiefs jersey this coming season and has extended his contract with the Chiefs Rugby Club through to 2022.

The All Blacks Sevens star was recently named in the Moana Pasifika squad to play the Māori All Blacks on Saturday 5 December at FMG Stadium Waikato. He is excited to continue his journey with the Gallagher Chiefs.

“I can’t wait for the season ahead. It is always a special moment to put on the Gallagher Chiefs jersey. It holds huge mana and is a massive honour to wear it. I am going into my third season with the boys now and I am excited for what we will achieve as a team.”

Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Michael Collins said Nanai-Seturo is an exciting player for Gallagher Chiefs fans to support.

“Etene is an exceptionally skilful player who has fantastic attacking ability, which we know our Gallagher Chiefs fans love. We are excited to see Etene continue to develop at the Gallagher Chiefs for a further two years and hope to see him in action next weekend representing the Moana Pasifika team at FMG Stadium Waikato.”

Nanai-Seturo debuted for the Gallagher Chiefs in 2019, scoring two tries in his opening Super Rugby match at FMG Stadium Waikato. The 21-year-old has notched up twenty-five points for the Gallagher Chiefs and has represented the side on 14 occasions. Nanai-Seturo has also played in eight tournaments for the All Blacks Sevens, including claiming a Commonwealth Games gold medal, winning the 2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, along with winning titles in the Hamilton and Vancouver tournaments, since debuting for the side in 2018.

The 2021 Gallagher Chiefs Squad will be officially announced on Thursday 3 December.
