Chiefs Rugby Club Awards Dinner Recap

The 2019 Chiefs Rugby Club awards dinner held at SKYCITY on Tuesday evening celebrated the achievements of the Gallagher Chiefs, University of Waikato Under 20’s and Splice Construction Chiefs Development teams’ in front of a vastly attended audience of teammates, family and Chiefs Rugby Club stakeholders.

In-form halfback Brad Weber has been a standout this season and testament to that, he collected the Gallagher Chiefs Coaches’ Player of the Year alongside the Waikato Draught Gallagher Chiefs Fans’ Player of the Year.

Humble in his acceptance speeches, Weber acknowledged the support from the Gallagher Chiefs management and teammates. He also thanked the fans for the support they’ve shown the Gallagher Chiefs this year.

Gallagher Chiefs midfielder Anton Lienert-Brown was awarded the Gallagher Chiefs Players’ Player of the Year. Undoubtedly a player who has consistently stepped up to perform for the team this season.

19-year-old Etene Nanai-Seturo was named the First Windows and Doors Gallagher Chiefs Rookie of the Year following an outstanding debut season for the Club, which included scoring 25 points in his eleven appearances.

Versatile prop Angus Ta’avao was named Gallagher Chiefs Personality of the Year for the second year in a row. Following an impressive season, Canadian International lock Tyler Ardron was named Gallagher Chiefs Mana Kotiate.

New Zealand Under 20’s loose forward Kaylum Boshier was awarded the University of Waikato Under 20’s Player of the Year. Bay of Plenty lock and current Gallagher Chiefs replacement Aaron Carroll was awarded the Splice Construction Development Player of the Year following a formidable season.

Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Michael Collins said: “It was fantastic to be able to host an evening at SKYCITY with our Chiefs Rugby Club whanau, sponsors and investors to celebrate and acknowledge the success and contribution our Club has made so far in 2019.”
