Chiefs Rugby Club remembers Terry Daly
It is with great sadness that the Chiefs Rugby Club announces the passing of former Board Member, Terry Daly.
Terry has been a part of the Chiefs whānau for over seven years contributing extensively to the organisation, in particular the marketing and sales strategy of the club.
Formerly the Commercial and Marketing Director for the New Zealand Olympic Committee, Terry was key in commercialising the New Zealand Olympic brands to grow the brand value of the Silver Fern internationally.
Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Simon Graafhuis said: "I was lucky enough to have been on the Chiefs Rugby Club board with Terry for the past five years and I consider him both a colleague and a friend.
"He was probably one of the most brilliant thinkers I have seen in the marketing space, he often had to explain things to me multiple times so I had a chance to understand what he was talking about, he was so far ahead in his thinking.
"His contribution to the Chiefs Rugby Club has been significant and will help us on our journey to be world-class. He has also left some traditions that will outlast us all.
"As a board before a final, all those that could, would sit down over a good bottle of wine and enjoy the moment before heading to the ground – he explained to me that we should always celebrate the moment, while we all anticipated the win. The club will acknowledge Terry in an appropriate way."
Our deepest condolences to Terry's family, friends and all those he influenced during his time.
