Expanded apparel range key to new Classic partnership

The New Zealand Super Rugby Clubs have signed a collective five-year agreement with Australasian apparel brand – Classic.

The partnership will see each club expand their range and offer greater official and supporter apparel options for fans, including a range of training and on-field items.

Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Simon Graafhuis said: "This is a great example of how the New Zealand clubs are collaborating off the field to try and leverage their collective skills to make them more competitive on the field.

"A benefit for us when partnering with Classic was them being based in Australia which means we can work with people in the same region and have faster and more customised apparel range.”

The New Zealand Super Rugby Clubs are excited about the announcement and the added flexibility and surety that comes with Classic. This flexibility also enables the introduction of heritage and special themed jerseys, something which is commonplace in leagues like the NBA and NRL.

"More importantly it will allow Super Clubs to get what their players and fans need; a great example being that women's and girls' ranges will be available rather than only being able to offer men's cut of jerseys," said Graafhuis.

"We look forward to what we can achieve through this new partnership and are excited to unveil the new jersey design for our teams later this year."

Classic has been manufacturing high-quality sportswear since 1934 with a strong presence across the NRL and partnerships with leading clubs including the South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons. Classic has expertise in technical athletic apparel that is exceptionally constructed with their own factory and an in-house art and design department allowing them to have complete control of all production capabilities and the supply chain.
