Gallagher Chiefs lock Michael Allardice recommits for 2020

At 2.00 metres tall one of Gallagher Chiefs tallest timber, Michael Allardice is excited to continue his Investec Super Rugby career with the Gallagher Chiefs through to 2020.

Taihape-born Allardice made his Investec Super Rugby debut for the Gallagher Chiefs in 2015. The hardworking 27-year-old lock is a valued member within the Gallagher Chiefs team and leadership group. A product of Palmerston North Boys High School, Allardice was a member of the New Zealand Schools and New Zealand University teams. The Hawke’s Bay Mitre 10 Cup representative is Gallagher Chief #257 and has 39 caps to his name.

Head Coach Colin Cooper said Allardice was a valued contributor and member of the Gallagher Chiefs squad and welcomed the extension to his contract.

“Michael is a great guy to have around the team. Well respected by the team, his natural ability to lead sees him as a key contributor within our group. He is an exceptional worker and always has the team front of focus. We are pleased for both him and his family that he has extended through to 2020.”

Allardice said he was privileged to have the opportunity to continue to represent the Gallagher Chiefs for another year.

“My Family and I are excited to resign here with the Gallagher Chiefs for 2020 season. I’m grateful for the opportunity to ply my trade here in Hamilton with the Chiefs, and each week go out to earn the right to wear the jersey.”
