Hamilton buzzing ahead of All Blacks Test
Hamilton is abuzz with less than 2000 tickets remaining for the final match of the Steinlager Series at FMG Stadium Waikato approaching.
Set to kick off this Saturday 17 July, fans will be treated to an international rugby double header featuring the second Steinlager Series Test between the All Blacks and Fiji at 7.05pm, and the deciding Rugby World Cup qualifying match between Tonga and Manu Samoa at 4.00pm.
With less than 2000 tickets left, fans are being encouraged to purchase tickets quickly or miss out on the first Test in Hamilton since 2019 as the Flying Fijians look to improve on their impressive showing in Dunedin.
“We saw a fantastic contest in Dunedin and the atmosphere in Hamilton promises to be electric,” NZR General Manager Professional Rugby & Performance Chris Lendrum said.
“Fiji brought a lot of physicality during the first Test and they will only be better after another week together, while the All Blacks will be equally determined in front of what will be a bumper crowd. When you add the intensity and passion of a Rugby World Cup qualifier into the mix it promises to be a great day of rugby.”
Tonga and Manu Samoa will be contesting the return leg of their two-Test Rugby World Cup qualifying series after Manu Samoa won the first match at Mt Smart Stadium 42-13.
H3 are encouraging attendees to use public buses, which will be free for fans on match day upon showing their match ticket. This will apply to the standard Hamilton & CBD bus services.
H3 General Manager Venues, Tourism and Major Events Sean Murray said: “We know the locals love it when the All Blacks come to town, and we wanted to support their evening at the match by offering free public transport. We expect to see a lot of All Blacks and Pacific Island nation flags populating the buses and around the city and can’t wait to see FMG Stadium Waikato come alive as it does so well for high profile rugby matches.”
The fixture also provides a great end for tertiary students’ re-orientation week, and it is expected that they will welcome the free transport on offer.
University of Waikato Engagement Manager Jess Vanxay said: “Re-orientation is always about the students and what experiences we can offer them. To have an All Blacks match at the end of it is great and no doubt they’ll be taking up those free buses to the big match on Saturday.”
Prices for the tickets that are still available start from $15 for kids and $30 for adults excluding booking fees. Tickets are available to purchase at allblacks.com and New Zealand Rugby (NZR) reminds fans to only purchase tickets from official channels and to avoid secondary on-line markets such as Viagogo.
