Independent Director Vacancy

The Chiefs Rugby Club (CRC), is seeking a skilled Independent Director to join the Board of Directors. This vacancy has arisen due to the retirement at the end of term, of one of the current Independent Directors.

The skilled and experienced Board has a clear and focused strategy. There are significant strategic aspirations and deliverables that they are intent on achieving, and are well supported by a high performing and capable management team.

The Board is seeking to complement its existing skill set, and add value to its overall capability. A key priority will be adding skilled diversity around the Board table, both in gender and culture, which reflects the nature of rugby, the Gallagher Chiefs fan base, and those who play.

To be considered, it is essential that you have had proven governance experience, very strong commercial acumen with senior leadership experience being desirable, along with a strong practical understanding of the professional rugby environment, and/or sports commercialisation, nationally and internationally. Having a blend of knowledge and experience in rugby, in particular, the female consumer, and Māori and Pasifika areas, would be a significant advantage. You must be a creative strategist, with a pragmatic foundation, and have well developed financial analysis skills. It is important that you are personable, socially skilled and are a good listener and communicator.

Opportunities to be involved with a high profile professional sporting business like the Chiefs do not come up very often. The future for Chiefs Rugby Club is challenging and exciting.
