Tahuriorangi returns to the Gallagher Chiefs as replacement
Popular Bay of Plenty halfback Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi has returned to the Gallagher Chiefs as a replacement player for the DHL Super Rugby Pacific competition.
Tahuriorangi, who played 47 games for the Gallagher Chiefs from 2018-2021, will replace halfback Xavier Roe, whose injured shoulder requires surgery.
Tahuriorangi had headed south to the Highlanders as injury cover for Folau Fakatava, who is on track to make an earlier return to play than originally expected.
The Bay of Plenty player has 64 Super games to his credit, for the Hurricanes, Crusaders and the Gallagher Chiefs, along with three Tests for the All Blacks and represented the New Zealand Māori’s in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Gallagher Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan said that they were pleased to find a replacement player of such quality and with an affinity with the club and players.
