Waihi pre-season tickets selling fast
The Gallagher Chiefs will host the Blues in Waihi at Waihi Athletic Rugby Club on Friday 17 January. The match has been well received by Gallagher Chiefs supporters with tickets being snapped up at a rapid rate for the teams only pre-season match ahead of their 2020 Investec Super Rugby campaign.
It will be first time the Gallagher Chiefs have held a pre-season fixture in Waihi and the first run of the season under Gallagher Chiefs Head Coach Warren Gatland.
Chiefs Rugby Club Marketing Manager Matt McIvor said tickets have been selling fast.
“It’s evident that our supporters are pumped for our rivalry clash against the Blues. It has been great to start the year with such strong support from our Gallagher Chiefs fans. Tickets have been selling fast and we have sold over two thirds of the tickets already. It’s not often you can watch such a high-level rugby match in the middle of summer and enjoy a weekend at the beach afterwards, so our fans are jumping on the opportunity.”
McIvor is urging fans to purchase online so they don’t miss out.
“Due to the high demand for tickets, we are urging fans to purchase online at chiefs.co.nz early so they don’t miss out. We can’t wait to see so many of our loyal supporters in beautiful Waihi this Friday.”
The fixture will kick off at 3.00pm. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 14 years and free for children under 5 years.
The Gallagher Chiefs will kick off their Investec Super Rugby season against the Blues at Eden Park on Friday 31 January. They will return home in round two to play the Crusaders in their first home game of the season at FMG Stadium Waikato on Saturday 8 February.
