Winger Subaru Boot Drive
The Chiefs Rugby Club have partnered with Winger Subaru to join them in their Rugby Boot Drive on Thursday 14 March at 9.00am at Winger Subaru. All rugby boots collected new and old will be donated to the WaterBoy who break down barriers to provide Kiwis with an opportunity to participate in sport.
Chiefs Rugby Club Commercial Manager Sean Austin said this was a great way to collaborate with Winger Subaru and the WaterBoy.
“It was a no brainer for us to work alongside Winger Subaru to make this a reality. Rugby is what we do, so if we can provide rugby boots from our Gallagher Chiefs players and encourage others to do the same together with Winger Subaru we will hopefully be able to provide an opportunity for Kiwis to get involved in rugby and participate in a sport we all love then that is a win,” said Austin.
Winger Subaru Dealer Principal Paul Burborough said this was a great opportunity to connect with our community.
“Winger Subaru are proud to be associated with such a worthy organisation doing great work in our community. It’s rewarding to be able to give back to the community that has supported us for many years,” said Burborough.
“We hope that the extra incentive of a free coffee and having the Gallagher Chiefs players down at Winger Subaru will encourage people to bring along their rugby boots for donation so we can deliver plenty to the WaterBoy,” finished Burborough.
Thomas Nabbs Founder of The WaterBoy said the rugby boots would provide the opportunity for more local kids to participate in sport.
“Today, New Zealand's wealth disparity gap is larger than ever, and sufficient food shelter and heating is an unachievable dream for many families. For those families, and children of those families, sport is a luxury. Having access to boots and equipment is one less financial barrier for kiwis to have to overcome to participate in sport.”
The Gallagher Chiefs will also be holding a collection opportunity when the Gallagher Chiefs take on the Hurricanes this Friday 15 March at FMG Stadium Waikato. Collection bins will be located at the entrance gates.
The WaterBoy:
The WaterBoy works to break down barriers to give kiwis opportunity for personal development. They believe that sport is an integral part of growing up in New Zealand. It is a part of our culture. The WaterBoy support more than just sport. They consider any opportunity or activity where participation will promote personal growth and development.
