Taranaki midfielder Daniel Rona entered the Gallagher Chiefs environment as part of the wider training squad in 2023.
Rona was retained after pre-season as an injury replacement for Anton Lienert-Brown and made his debut off the bench against the Highlander. Rona put in a strong performance and went from strength to strength to be named in the starting lineup just three rounds later against the Blues.
Scoring his maiden try against the Hurricanes in round eight, he went one better in Dunedin for a two-try, Man-of-the-Match performance against our southern rivals.
The 22-year-old was a concreter before his Super Rugby call-up however hung up the tools after securing a three-year deal with the Gallagher Chiefs starting in 2024.
